Thanks for the letter

Postby jty » Fri Jan 06, 2012 12:36 pm

Thank you for your letter to council Mr. Thomas, very well said. It reflects what everyone I know has been thinking about this request of the operating budget. Let us hope that council doesn`t just receive and file your letter, but rather takes your thoughts and suggestions seriously.

Mr. Hagel, the other night you said “2012 would be spent working to increase revenue sharing from the federal and provincial levels of governments.” That is all fine and well and wish you the best in your efforts. But, why not take some of Mr. Thomas’s advice and clean up some of the fat and waist in our own back yard?? Set the example of good governance and maybe the other levels of government will take you more seriously!

in budget committee, it was attached to a report with other correspondence about the budget. the report was received and filed i believe.

Yes his true worth is becoming more and more apparent as they get into the heart of the budget deliberations. Politicians of all stripes get into their positions usually by what they have to say. The good ones get to stay there by what they do or don`t do.
We are stuck with this white elephant of a multimess, but to sit back and leave this multiplex operating board run amuck with the operation’s finances is unacceptable. I and many others who were against this facility in the first place, were hoping that this last change in council would bring about a vision of putting to rest the riff in the community this facility created. Putting an end to this riff by providing a well managed open and transparent administration and board that would take the operation and viability of this facility seriously. Showing that it is determined to maximize this facilities revenue potential but more importantly going out of its way to minimize the burden the operational finances of this facility would place on the community.
But that very obviously has not happened; instead we have an overpaid administration that is either too self-absorbed or has little or no knowledge of basic bookkeeping, along with three councilors sitting on the board overseeing this facility who are either unaware of their responsibilities to the electorate, lack common sense, or just don`t care, all under the watchful eye of Mr. Hagel, or at least it should be under his watchful eye!
This will do nothing to dissolve the riff in the community, in fact it will probably cause it to fester all that much more!
