The other aspect of the City spending habits that is very disgusting, and many people are not likely to notice it since it doesn't show on our property tax bill, is that almost all of the Provincial Revenue sharing money has gone into the Multi-mess!! Last year we received roughly $1.2 million from the Province and the budget that the BLACK HOLE got was $1.2 million; this year we got roughly $500,000 and the multi-mess got $900+ thousand!!! Coleman, Hagel and the cohorts imply that the City is hurting due to previous years with no of tax increases, but in reality they (Council) have simply been spending on the WRONG PRIORITIES!!! With all the revenue sharing monies combined with the last three years of tax increases Moose Jaw should have the best streets in the Province, but instead we get a HOCKEY RINK for the "big boys"!!

So true. So much taxpayer's money spent on a project that benefits only 25% (is that too high a %?) of the citizens of Moose Jaw.
Rammed through by COWBOY POLITICS.
Anyone who questions this is automatically a "caver".

Don't insult Forrest-more like lemmings going over a cliff. So if they keep $900,000 from contingency fund + $600,000 from last year...$1.5 million in bank that they can spend on their "wants"..while our "needs" get cut. Sweet deal.

For a board that was suppose to be knowledgeable about the industry maybe the city should have asked them to also produce a life skills training certificate.

So thanks to the 4 stooges-it's now 3.9 % and rising.Amazing that Swanson-who does his homework-says that the mplex doesn't have to return the $600,000 surplus from last year-but Coleman says that they will.Gee-wonder who'll be right??

And there is still the growing infrastructure deficit to worry about....

But hey-we can just borrow the money! If anyone else watched the council meeting last night..gotten over the nausea yet? $32,000 equipment for field house-not necessary or used.Over $200,000 for "benefits" or staff-not used-but the 4 wise men say hey-let them keep the cash. How can these idiots look at themselves in their mirrors?? (or more importantly-which puppet master is pulling their strings?) Numbers may be a bit off-too busy saying WTF!

For me not returning the money set aside for staff benefits - for staff never hired - has to be one of the most arrogant moves on the MOB's part.
I am still waiting for that belated audited statement to arrive and have that 200 grand magically spent on something never allocated for in their operational subsidy.
I will say though that there is a method to their madness because they hope people's anger dies down by that time over the sticker shock of the tax increase largely attributeable to those facilities.
A good playoff run for the Warriors would in my opinion undoubtedly be used by the MOB to take the heat off of their budget problems. They are hoping for a lot of short memories on this one....
