Strike!

Postby Katy » Tue May 03, 2011 9:32 am

My 16 yr old just texted me and said that the teachers are going on strike and there's no school Thursday. Anyone know what's going on?

I think they are having a one day province-wide walkout to force their contract demands.

Silly question, but is it for both separate and public school systems?

As far as I have heasd it is only going to be on Thursday. I am wondering if the school boards are not going to retaliate and then lock the teachers out for a day??? Or is your son looking for a four day weekend????

Don't know a neighbour is a teacher - public board - and she told me about it last night.

As much as any teenager that would love to get out of school for the day (or a 4 day weekend), he wouldn't lie to me about THAT. He knows he'd be consequenced and he fears my consequences.

S'all good. However, I feel bad for parents with kids that can't stay home by themselves.. I remember being in that position at one time, and I hope the public knows soon, because parents are going to be scrambling to have someone watch their kids, or a lot of people are going to have to be taking time off from work.
