Who is Ernie Penney? What does he do?

I read in the paper a month ago that he raised a million penny's when they were rebuilding the library or something like that.

But I'm wondering if the local media is already attempting to cast him in a bad light?

With more two weeks before nominations close he becomes the fourth candidate seeking the mayor's chair along with local goat farmer Ernie Penney, former MLA Glenn Hagel and local businesswoman Karen Andersen Tyers in the mayoral race.

Is he a goat farmer? I read somewhere he works at Mosaic, doing what?

Is that the best Ernie has? Or is the local media just trying to pick on on Penney? That's like calling Glenn Hagel "unemployed."

Does this dude have any chance of knocking off Hagel?

I'm at a complete loss as who to vote for, and wouldn't want to waste my vote. Heck, I'd like an 'anyone but Hagel' vote, but just who might that be?

From what I hear Ernie isn't likely to do it. Too bad though, nice enough guy in person that's for sure.

I'm guessing enough people are thinking Stan might have a chance and are going with that.

I know Ernie. I haven't seen him for years, but from what I can re-call he is a single parent. He was dairy farming but got out in the 1980's then he went to work at the beef plant, he farms goats and sells them into a niche market (new immigrant market) and when let go by the beef plant he got a job for Mosaic.
When they were building the new library they needed some money to finish some things and someone came up and approached Ernie.
There you had the campaign to raise $10,000 from pennies. I think the campaign was "Do you have a Penny for Moose Jaw?"
Covered an old car with, you got it, pennies and he drove all over town.
With all of the spare change donated they raised the $10,000 and a little bit more.
He has been up and down in life but he keeps on ticking, I will give him that. He is not a silver spooner or an Old Boy guy.
Will he knock off Hagel, can't see it Stan has the best hope of doing that.
