Landslide

Glen Hagel has made much of his 21 years of political experience in his campaign. In comparison, his 3 opponents combined have 0.

With that kind of an advantage and reputation, is there any reason Mr. Hagel does not win by a massive landslide?

if you read his add in the TH he single handedly has done everything that has ever happened in MJ. If you believe his add then you deserve what you get. He takes credit for XL beef / the pork plant & Philips Cable too, but I don't see why he is bragging about that..OOOOOOOPPS..should have proofread it Glen...LMAO

Could you please be more specific for those of us who don't see Mr. Hagel through your rose coloured glasses? What, in particular, has he "made much of" over his 21 years in office? I can only think of businesses closing, schools closing, hospital renovations put off endlessly, another hospital closure....am I missing some? Surely, over 21 years, there must be more!

Sorry, misunderstood what you meant. It sounded like you were saying he made much of his time in office, in other words, put it to good use and got results. I see what you mean now. Agreed.

Do you think that will help him or hinder him? For those that like to be informed voters, I'm sure they are aware of his 'record' (or lack thereof), and when he touts the 21 year spiel, will they call him on it, or will they be the lemming and just vote for him because they've heard of him and he's done his time, so to speak?

Me, if I was an eligible voter in MJ, I don't know really. He seems like a nice guy, from what I know of him though media, watching him at the Leg, and discussions with him in person, but....what has he really done for Moose Jaw? Seriously. Does anyone have a breakdown of his (actual) accomplishments for the city? And I don't mean ones that just happened while he happened to be the MLA at the time. I mean accomplishments where he worked hard to get something for the City of Moose Jaw.

That said, if he failed to accomplish much in 21 years, in a position as powerful as he had, how could one expect him to possibly do anything productive in 3 years, in a position that (thanks to the current council) has extremely little bargaining power in the province? (I refer you to the lack of funding provided for any major project, other than the MP, over the last 3 years, whereas even tiny, 'one-horse' towns, got loads of cash for something Moose Jaw mistakenly 'overlooked' - housing, roads, education, hospitals, sewer upgrades)

Landslide...maybe. Dependent though on one's viewpoint of the man. I only hope people don't just vote for the man because they've heard of him, and "Well, he's represented us before, how bad could he be?" Truly find out what the man has to offer, and evaluate his answers to see if 1+1=2 in your own mind. Become an informed voter.

Honestly, to me...there are only two true candidates for Mayor in the Jaw, and I'm predicting a heated battle between the two. That being Mr. Koch, and Mr. Hagel. No offense to the others running, it's just that I see these two being the frontrunners considering all that's taken place to date.

My question about this and it is something that may dog Glenn after all is said and done, do you think Mr Unicycle will get over 50 % of the vote?
I am kind of wondering if the other three candidates might have a combined vote total more than Hagel's votes.
If that happens it would not be a landslide.
Hagel will probably win but if the other three combined have more votes than he does, I am left wondering what effect that is going to have.
What happens if Hagel takes 49% of the vote and the other three combined get 51% of the vote?
It is all speculation for now but we'll know tomorrow.
Mayor with less than 50%.....hmmmm......might happen you know..........

Winning by one vote would not be a landslide it would just mean your Mom voted for you.

What it would be is an indication of just how badly the man's reputation is tainted in this city.
