Heather Eby's disregard for the organization of the City

Candidate for councillor

Heather Eby's disregard for the organization of the City

I had to post this here because I found it on Heather Eby's blog and just couldn't believe what she is posting over there.

It has been brought to my attention that I don’t seem to have a “plan”, just a vision of an outcome, but no plan.

And you know what, that is true. I have the vision, which means I have the ideas…

I don’t yet have a one-man-concrete-plan of how to make those things happen that I believe need to happen in our city.

...

but even once you have the idea you need to gather the information, talk to the right people, check into the parameters and existing framework, and then you can begin to make a plan.

...

So my “plan” is to continue to do the groundwork that needs to be done, and then be part of a team that will work together to develop and execute a plan that will succeed. There are dozens of people out there right now who know things about these projects that I don’t even know I don’t know yet! I need to sit and listen to them for a while.

...

Reality is, I’m going to be on a sharp learning curve. But I can read, and listen, and learn, and then apply what I learn. And then, and only then can I begin to be a part of planning.

I am not a professional politician, nor an experienced Civic servant, I’m just someone who would like a chance to make a difference in an arena where so many others are afraid to venture. I understand why so many shy away, but that’s not the way I roll.

Wow. I think others have rightly pointed out in those comments just how far off base this candidate is. Learn about how the City is run first, then run for Council. Not get elected and then face a steep learning curve. Not get elected first and then " sit and listen to them for a while." That's the taxpayer paying for Heather's education. That's not the way a City should "roll."

I know some people that visit this site think I would be better served studying documents from City Hall on game night, but I learned more about what Moose Jaw wants from Council at the game tonight than I could have learned all week buried in policy and by-law manuals. So that being said….Go Warriors

Showing a complete disregard for the proper organization and operation of this City. She wants me to vote for her to be Councillor but then shows a complete lack of understanding for what she will be responsible for as a Councillor. It isn't all about hockey you know, you will be responsible for drafting, revising and upholding what is in those manuals!

There's one I can strike off my list.

The real Multiplex business plan is to suckle mama's teet until it runs dry, or she learns that the child is really 72 years old and needs to be booted out on their own.

But are the Warrior games a true snapshot of the total city of Moose Jaw???
And if they are did she speak to everyone or just within a few seats of where she was sitting???
And are the Warrior games really that boring that politics and not watching the game is more important to the crowd???
Good to get out but what about walking the neighbourhoods???

I would think not - it would be a certain demographic of like minded people. The ones who have differing views would most likely not be at the games. The effort was one of getting the results they wanted by monitoring one side and saying it is a valid sample.
