How goes park-and-ride?

So far, at least, it appears the city’s park and ride pilot project is only drawing small numbers, but Moose Jaw Transit supervisor Kim Burnside said he hopes to see usership for the service increase as more people find out about it in the weeks ahead.

“People have to get orientated to what’s out there, and it’s their own choice,” he told the Times-Herald.

However, Burnside said the service from pickup points to Mosaic Place for large events hasn’t drawn a large crowd since it started on Sept. 1. The pilot project runs until the end of October.

He said, in fact, for the Moose Jaw Warriors first exhibition game at the beginning of September, only 13 people were reported using the service

When more people find out about it ? I'm sure people already know about it, they just don't want to use it.

13 people in nice weather, what happens when it gets cold ? Another epic fail.

Now comes the part that the taxpayer will have to purchase property and build a parkade or will that be the River Street developement ?

Only 13 people used the park and ride!
Obviously the other 3,900 people found a place to park close to Mosaic place. And you guys thought parking was going to be an issue.

Another perceived problem solved !!

Not much foresight, common sense or logic in that comment since winter and the hockey season aren't even here!

I just don't see why they don't expand the bus service until 11pm... games are usually done between 9 and 9:30 PM... and what about the businesses out on Thatcher Dr at are open later... or others that might consider it... yeah, there might be more expense for driver, gas etc.. but I believe more would use the regular bus service rather than a charter..

Or does it mean only 13 people went to the game?

What makes you think they parked close ?

With the way the weather was, people would not mind walking a ways. It will be different when it's -30.

If this is just a preceived problem, please explain why Safeway and the Casino are doing what they are doing ?

Apparently they think it will be a problem.

Do you use the bus as your primary means of transportation ?

Did you use the bus to get to the game ?

Although, I guess you can tell us whatever you want, we would never know the difference ;)

There were vehicles parked up to 3rd and High St. Both sides. I would say a large number of people drove to the game as the weather is nice enough to walk. There was also no parking on Main.St. or Fairford St. Not sure about any of the others...I didn't travel any but the streets mentioned.

I might be inclined to use the bus more, if that was an option to go to the game... for the first one, I walked down...took me 25 minutes from where I live... the second time a friend picked me up... in nice weather I will usually walk, but if the bus service was offered as an alternative, I would definitely take advantage of it... both ways... if it was offered to 11pm, I might even be inclined to take it to work...
