On July 6 Discover Moose Jaw Reported

The Moose Jaw Fieldhouse has been a busy place over the last nine months or so. With an average of 4000 people a week walking through their doors, staff have been blown away by the new facility's popularity. They were originally expecting to greet around 500 each week.

With numbers like 4000 per week, most managers would be satisfied with the way things are going, but not Clark. "We're just scratching the surface right now... but we know there is a lot more that we can add to it and we continue to do it."

On November 1 - One Year Of Operating

Jackman added that more than 100,000 patrons passed through their doors in their first year of business and they already have more than a hundred full-time gym memberships sold and counting at their new fitness centre, that opened September 1st.

More the 100,000 people for a total of 364 days - that would be 1923 a week / 274 a day / 17 people a housr

At the nine month mark we were at 4,000 people a week and three months later we are down to 1923 people a week

In July Clark mention 4,000 people a week was just scratching the surface! What are his comments for the last three months of the year?

The only important numbers are: costs or expenses versus revenue or income.
That shouldn’t be too hard to come up with after a full year of being open and should give us taxpayers a good indication of what we are in for!
In another article in the Star Phoenix or Leader Post the city was taking pride or bragging about being open an honest with the taxpayers of Moose Jaw when it comes to spending their cash, so lets hear it city administration, give us the real numbers that matter on this multimess fieldhouse.

all city departments (including MP) should have their budgets in to administration by now, so the 2012 budget process should be starting soon. then we should at least see the MP budget for next year.

After the big $1,200,000.00 windfall they got for this year with only a short "rink" season they should be able get by without much subsidization - tax dollars - for next year. And they likely won't let the public see the fiscal books so we won't know how much they are "bleeding" our money for sometime!

Thanks to a famous Toastmaster and stories like this one, we are all reminded just how much everyone likes a good work of fiction.
Irresponsible news writers present only 1 side of a story.

I was at the fieldhouse last night for the advanced voting. Three people were in the gym...not sure how many were out on the turf. There were one or two adults on the walking track and some small children goofing off with them.
I couldn't stand to be in the building, there is a rubber odor that is over powering inside the building. As you walk beside the building the vents blow this odor outdoors. My head was aching within minutes of being in the building and I sneezed for a bit after I finally left.
I wouldn't go back there under any circumstances...simply due to this odor. I did ask the young lady sitting by the door if the smell didn't bother her, she said she couldn't smell anything. The person I went into the building with agreed with me, it was a very strong odor.

That odor must come and go because the last time I was there, the only difference between outside and inside was no wind. Found the hour "hike" quite enjoyable.
We may not be telling the whole story but the story we're telling is telling...

I would assume you don't like to be near other scents either. You're not alone, other people have super sensitive noses too.
The odor is there, just like walking into a tire shop, but up to the individual whether i'ts 'overpowering' or not.
As for attendance, not very many indoor venues have as many people attending when it's nice outside. Place was full last night. So not to worry CAVERS.

I am sensitive to scents...perfumes, aftershaves..the cheaper brands...I found the smell of rubber in the fieldhouse to be so overpowering...it wasn't pleasant for me to vote there. The man I was with found the smell also to be overpowering...and he is a truck driver!

i predict more people would use the field house if we just erect some buildings, declare them to be dilapidated, tear down them eyesores and clean up that wasteland. should be loved by all then.
