No Christmas spirit with multiplex managers

Postby Harlen » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:29 pm

So we just went down to the Holiday Train. It stopped right accross from the good old multiplex. There is a Warrior game tonight so down town is already a zoo. But, we were lucky enough to sneak into a parking place on the south side of the multiplex facing the train tracks. Us and at least a dozen other cars were able to find spaces to watch the show. No exits were being blocked.
About ten minutes into the show a commissionaire (not a Warrior security guard) starts coming thru the lot telling cars with people they have to leave because "they don't want us sitting here". I look back and see some guy in a suit giving directions to the commissionaire. So I asked the guy if he worked for the Multiplex or the Warriors. He said the multiplex.
I get that its the multiplex property and all. But come on. Its Christmas. The holiday train was there. And because of this stupid facility being down town there is not much parking. Did they really need to kick us out in the middle of the train's show?? On any given night I would understand, but not tonight. There is such thing as bending the rules under certain circumstances.
What a bunch of a$$holes. They sure are not doing much to help with the divide the community is having about this new rink.

It is never to late to purchase a Virtual Seat and jump on the "Multiplex Train" and trust me it will make you feel good year round not just at Christmas time!

This pretty much typifies the "Spiritual Enlightenment" associated with the under-handed tactics that were used to build this Money-plex!!

This is terrible. I would be willing to undertake a parking study that will show MJ needs a parkade near the new facility. There is still money in the contingency fund to pay for this. I would not charge that much and would only need someone who is good with calculations to help me. A downtown parkade will help everyone move forward.

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch
You really are a heel!
You're as cuddly as a cactus
You're always looking for a city deal,
Mr. Grinch!
You're a bad banana with a
Greasy black peel!

You're a monster, Mr. Grinch
You're a an a$$hole.!
Your brain is full of spiders
You've got city dollars to plug your financial holesl,
Mr. Grinch!
I wouldn't touch you with a
Thirty-nine-and-a-half-foot pole!

You're a vile one, Mr. Grinch
You have termites in your smile!
You have all the tender sweetness
Of a seasick crocodile,
Mr. Grinch!
Given the choice between the two of you
I'd take the, um, seasick crocodile!

You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch
You're the king of sinful sots!
Your heart's a dead tomato splotched
Kicking families out of a parking lot their tax dollars are paying for,
Mr. Grinch!
You're a three-decker sauerkraut and toadstool sandwich
With arsenic sauce!

You nauseate me, Mr. Grinch
With a nauseous super naus!
You're a crooked dirty hockey jockey
And you drive our taxes through the roof,,
Mr. Grinch!
Your soul is an appalling dump heap
Overflowing with the most disgraceful requests upon the city,
Mangled up in tangled up knots!

You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch
You're a nasty, taxes wasty skunk!
Your heart is full of unwashed socks
Your soul is full of gunk,
Mr. Grinch!
The three words that best describe you are as follows and I quote:
Stink, stank, stunk!

With all apoligies to Dr Seuss.......

Gee maybe we can con the taxpayer into footing the bill for a park and ride to this Holiday Train, others have!

You pretty much said it yourself, you shouldn't have been parked there, you knew you shouldn't have parked there, and what about the other 400 people who came to see the train....they obviously had the common sense not to park there?

So if I have a christmas party next door to your house and can not find a parking spot close enough, I will just pull on in to your driveway....because it is Christmas???

Why did you not try and park in all of the parking lots that say provate parking, offenders will be towed down there? ITs Christmas, thye won't really tow you?

As for those who were asking you to leave the parking lot at the Multiplex, they were just doing their job. And that gives you the right to call them a$$holes? Real nice community spirit you have!
Really...

Ok, first of all, if someone parked in my driveway it means they would be BLOCKING it. No one was blocking anything at Mosaic Place. It was 8pm, the game was on, the opposing team bus was already there, the fans were already there. And if anyone wanted to leave they could, because no one who was watching the Holiday Train was blocking anything.
And second of all, my house/driveway is not funded by the tax payer. Now I am not crazy and trying to say that this means we can do whatever we want because its tax payer money, but I am making the point that your analogy of the parking in my drive way is not relevant.
Further more, yes I do expect to see community spirit from the managers of a PUBLICLY funded place.
There were cars pulled over in the middle of the street at the meridian and the police came by and let them be. Why? Because it was a short term event and the police used thier "discretionary" common sense.
Were the Mosaic people within thier rights to do what they did? Yes. Was it the right thing to do at that moment though?? No.

It was a beautiful night, why didn't you just park and walk a couple blocks? :P

One thing I would like to know and I do not ever remember seeing any type of signage at the MultiPlex that says "Event Parking Only".
Perhaps Priapus could address this one, but don't they require to have such signage at any type of public access facility - including shopping malls, funeral homes, churches and the like - in order to have the bylaw enforced???
And if so and there is no signage there could it be that calling a commissionaire is not legit????
Personally if the lot was not full I cannot see the big deal if they allowed a few people to utilize the extra spots for a free event to help out a local charity.
Maybe they should have walked, but at the same time if any of the people had small toddlers with them it would not be the best situation.
PR-wise it just is not something the MultiPlex wants to get around.
