Proportional Representation

I keep hearing the Green party pushing for proportional representation. as far as im concerned, this is basically an acknowledgement that they are a fringe party, because proportional representation is designed to allow the fringes to backdoor their way into parliament.

I came across this a couple of weeks ago, its called alternative vote, and sounds like a much more interesting idea to me.

Nomination Revolt

Although not local I found this story interesting and how an independent candidate might take a seat after a nomination controversy.
Never happen here locally, but I am sure some people would like to see it.

Election Predictor

Here's a nifty little gadget I found on-line that uses poll and other data to predict the federal election.
http://predictor.hillandknowlton.ca/

Only prediction I can make nationally is that if Harper does not get a firm majority we will soon see moves to dump him and move towards a more mainstream leader.

Debate Changed

I see they moved the French language debate so as not to conflict with the Candiens and Bruins game and that all parties redily agreed.

Only a fool would want to mess with Don and Coach's Corner.

Timing is Critical

The Conservatives are calling on Auditor General Sheila Fraser to publicly release the final version of her report into the Harper government's spending for last summer's G8 summit after a draft version — supposedly highly critical — was leaked to the media.

The story, which emerged on Monday morning, has landed like a bombshell in the middle of the election campaign and threatens to throw Conservative leader Stephen Harper off stride just one day before ...

Well not according to the IMF and the ILO statistics shown in this article; http://www.straightgoods.ca/2011/ViewAr ... ookies=yes we actually did rather poorly.

Political Depate

Harper vs. Ignatieff: Do you want to see a one-on-one debate?
http://www.cbc.ca/news/yourcommunity/20 ... ebate.html
Hell ya, bring it on, no scripts nothing, straight one on one. After all they are the only two who could possibly become PM. They can have their all party leader debate as well but I think we are entitled to see these two possible PMs go at it.

VOTE PERCENTAGES

Although in the end it is the candidate with the most votes that wins, I am very interested in the final vote percentages.
The vote percentages mean a lot because they can be viewed as a snapshot of the mood in the community.
If lets say one of the higher profile candidates win with a slim majority percentage wise it could signal many city voters are not ready to move on.
I am not looking ...

The Canadian Cancer Society's survey

I found this article on DiscoverMooseJaw this morning, and I had to make mention of something. In their headline, it said few candidates responded to this survey. I'd like to add why I didn't respond.

It's because I didn't get the email. Now, if I didn't get it, what are the chances others didn't get it. I tried emailing the agency to let them know I didn't receive the survey and it wouldn't let me ...
