Oh? News to me... and to a lot of others I would guess...

Hey Jay, rather than complaining about it, and complaining some more, and so on ad infinitum, why don't you just create a poll of your own? You know you can do that right? Or do you specialise on negatively criticising others who do create polls

Complaining ad infinitum... what irony.. this whole board is full of complainers, it doesn't matter what part of the site you go to.. its been that way for a long time. It would take forever to quote all the posts where people complain... and those are just your posts, Al! Make the poll a little more even, and the criticism stops.. simple concept, don't you think?

Some people are just beyond help...

I'm so happy you can show us how "positive" people behave.

Delusional.

I'm delusional? You are under the delusion that I actually care about your biased little poll.. but go ahead, it will be funny to read some of the responses... maybe you should make some crying towels, if and when the poor little CC gets torn down... :(

I've been attending games at the CC for years... as a kid in the early 70's watching the Canucks, and yes even going to quite a few Warrior games... but your poll isn't conducive to that kind of discussion.

Hmmm would it really have taken much more effort to type "not in my back yard"? or is the common courtesy of answering a simply question too much for this proud "positive" pro-plexer?

Sorry, but I went down this road once before.. so if he doesn't know what it means then he can look it up..

Thanks for clearing that up Priapus. I was thinking it was a local expression or perhaps a person.

Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "I went down this road once before". Does that mean that someone else didn't know what a NIMBY is?

In its hey day the Civic Centre was the scene of a lot of memorable events.
I remember the Shriner's circus selling the place out in an afternoon and an evening performances.

I remember trade shows being held there and the guy who did a belly flop into about 18 inches of water from the rafters and walked away from it.

But those days were done a long time ago.

To say that the building was "beloved" is someone who never grew up here reading something into it that may not be there. Eby is trying to interject nostalgia into the mix but in reality she was not here in what was the Civic Centre's heyday and in many ways is an outside commentator.

Times were simpler then, there was more money around and lets face it it was the only game in town.

I also remember the Mini Theatre and the afternoon matinees that were filled to capacity and them giving a bike away every Saturday afternoon, but this "beloved landmark and hangout" was quickly dispatched with little fanfare or compalint to serve as a parking lot.

Times change and so do tastes. Historic and full of memories for sure - beloved that might just be stretching it.
