This place is a dump. Carpets are disgusting and visibly dirty! Food is greasy and cold. Seats need cleaning. Crumbs on the tables that were supposedly clean! Ever hear of wipng the crumbs off the seats of the booths.....guess not because they don't just look next time you make the mistake and go there. Owner and his family walked through the kitchen area with no hair protection so they could go outside and sit at the back and smoke! How gross is that? Lady in the kitchen doesn't wear an apron so everything that would normally end up on her apron is on the front of her shirt and then she comes walking out into the customer area. Have heard from others that they no longer go there and now I know why.
Avoid this place and go to Smitty's next door.

That's a pretty damning condemnation.....

They used to have such good food and service. Sad to see a business go down like this. Have heard this from other people as well.

I work at this "dump", and sorry buddy when you got a busy place with lots of farmers the carpets get dirty. They were put in NEW a year ago and have been cleaned twice since, perhaps we should ask people to take off their shoes when they come in? Food is greasy? thats specific did you order a cheeseburger? lol. If it was cold its probably because you were busy gawking around at all the crumbs to notice it was in front of your face. I have yet to be in a restaurant that doesn't have crumbs( or most likely lint from a cloth on the seats). Also if you know the kitchen layout as you seem to think you do the pathway from the front to back door is not actually in the kitchen area it is off to the side so they would not be in contact where food is prepped. not sure if you realize this but its mandatory to smoke outside , and rather than being on the sidewalk where people are trying to come in they go out back(usually to their vehicles to smoke) As for the lady walking out into the customer area, where would you suggest she go to the bathroom? outside? sorry again but to get to the bathrooms you have to walk through the restaurant, and if you had half a clue about cooking you would know aprons only catch so much. Would you also suggest she wear her apron into the bathroom since you seem to have the problem with her coming out front without one? I would prefer they take the apron off in the kitchen but hey that's just me. You go to smitty's and enjoy, Im sure you are a regular there, enjoy the wait and check those booths before you sit! oh and make sure during the summer months you don't sit near the back windows as there has been an ant problem there for the last 3 years, doesn't bother me any to squish a few with a napkin while I'm eating, but if crumbs bother you I'd hate to see how you react to a bug crawling across your table!

I have to agree with the last person, (Booboo). I've eaten at Carol's many times, the food is good and I've never had a problem with a dirty table or seats. Maybe you just came in after a family left and they just hadn't had time to swipe the seats clean, when there is a line up at the door the staff don't like to keep you waiting...
I'm so sorry that someone said something negative about this establishment, I've always found it to be one of the better places to eat, my only complaint would be sometimes a person has to wait for a bit to be seated, especially on Sundays.
I've also noticed that when the staff come in from outside if they have been smoking that hand washing is in order, can't beat that for clean!

Found this info out from the last Health inspectors reports. Carols has been written up the last three times for cleanliness

I just used the last two inspections carried out on the two different restaurants

yet the 2 previous reports on smittys have a list of issues but thats ok! Every restaurant I have looked up so far on that site has the same issues listed so I guess all dining places in moose jaw are "dumps" at one time or another.

I think with these inspections, the important thing to look at is the re-inspection priority. in both of these cases it is low. It takes only the smallest of infractions to get listed, but if there are any real problems, the re-inspection priority would be higher.

Well since you work there, then you know that your not as busy as you used to be and probably blame it on the weather, farmers away seeding, poor economy or some other lame excuse instead of looking at your establishment. Funny how your the only restaraunt who has dirty carpet to this extent eh! I eat out several times a month when I come to town and don't see carpet this dirty anywhere else, it is BLACK with dirt. I am one of those farmers you talk about and perhaps some of us do leave a mess but we do our best to clean our footwear and the stones and dirt we may leave should be cleaned up everyday not just when you get around to it. I believe you have a vacuum cleaner but it is obvious that you don't often use it. Your excuse doesn't wash...so what if the carpet WAS new.....IT IS EXTREMELY DIRTY NOW!!! Go look at it!! How is that acceptable? Of course you find it acceptable, that's why it looks like that. Crumbs, lint, hair, whatever you want to call it, WIPE IT OFF so we don't have to sit on them and use a damp CLEAN cloth to rid the sticky goo on the seat. The table was clean and supposedly ready for the customer, but not the seat? When do you think she planned on cleaning that??
By the way when the server has to yell into the kitchen to ask where our food is and there are only 3 other tables with customers, that's a sure sign of things going wrong. I speak of the grossness of walking through the kitchen area without hair protection, and don't really care that they smoke.
Yes, aprons do only catch so much, so then you change it everyday, but she wasn't wearing one and she didn't go to the bathroom. She came out of the kitchen, spoke with the owner and then went back in. Again your attempt to excuse her appearance doesn't wash. The three health department checks speak for themselves as they do of the other establishments, but what I see at yours isn't at the others. Of course myself and your former customers who spend our money may not know what we are talking about, but we do know we aren't spending it at your place anymore. Good luck in your future endeavors.

First off it is not "my establishment" I work there period. We are just as busy now if not busier than when the previous owners had it open, I know I have worked there every time. I know for a fact the carpets are cleaned twice daily, once in the afternoon with a cordless sweeper vac, and at night with the big vacuum. No we cant steam clean the carpets weekly unless we close to do it and then customers get mad because they have driven all the way out for it to be closed. I guess being a farmer when your working your clothes must stay perfectly clean after a few hours I hope you don't let anyone see you with mud on your clothes or grease on your hands. I know when you watch movies with chefs in the pristine white clothes you must think its like that everywhere, reality is, things splash things spill and shit happens! Sorry you had a bad experience but I take great offense to it being called a dump, I have eaten in many restaurants here and in Regina and I can point you to a few dumps so you will have something to realistic to complain about. Now if we were telling you to eat off the carpet then I would say you were justified!
