I happened to be along with a bunch of kids that went to see the second installment in this popular children's franchise a weekend ago and for the kids it did not disappoint.
The animation was great and the 3D effects were on a scale of 1 - 10 in the range of 9. I have seen better 3D effects out there but this movie was Ok and I can tell you that the 3D was used in such a way to help the plot and it is not just a kid's movie with a bunch of 3D effects.
The basic plot is about a group of dancing young penguins and how through circumstance and chance they are forced to save the lives of the penguins they love.
The movie has the douting parents, playboy penguin and his obsession with the ladies and penguin eating seals and scavenging seagulls adding to the mix.
Lots of modern music used in the movie so be warned it can be loud at times.
I would recommend it to people to take their kids to watch although I will warn you about the sticker shock - it cost just under $70 to take myself and two children to the theatre here locally when you factor in the price of admission, popcorn, drinks and treats.
